The government has taken necessary steps to commence testing and evaluation of implementation of Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) service by telecom service providers, the government told Parliament on Thursday. Regarding CNAP, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recommended that the implementation of CNAP service should be tested and evaluated before its implementation in Indian telecom networks.
Minister of State for Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, “The government has taken necessary steps to start testing and evaluating the implementation of CNAP by telecom service providers. Through this facility, the name of the caller will be known. This will prevent unknown or spam calls.
